RSM Art Conservation, Australia’s longest continuous practicing conservation company, is seeking a suitably qualified person in painting conservation.
The PAINTING CONSERVATOR should have experience in working on oil and acrylic works on a variety of supports. There knowledge and experience should include, facing of artworks, and consolidation with isinglass. Linings with Beva film and beeswax.
The position is full time. The conservation studio is located near central Brisbane.

We are also seeking an assistant PAPER CONSERVATOR, to work with our head paper conservator. Skills should include, backing removals, washing on a vacuum table, backing to new supports, repairs to tears, infill of losses and in-painting.
This is a part time position of 3 - 4 days per week.
The applicants do not need a full degree from a Conservation course within Australia, but must have worked in the industry, or have had some tertiary education in conservation. They should display a high degree of manual dexterity, and be able to work independently on various conservation projects.

OBJECTS CONSERVATION

Experience in the conservation of a variety of objects would be an advantage.
We have an extensive variety of objects requiring conservation, including glass, metals, textiles, ceramics, marble, and wood. Assistance with conservation of objects will be available from one of our head conservators.
